This vessel's form is copied from the Hopi seed pot known as a sikyatki, named for an ancient village on First Mesa in Northern Arizona. The colorful images on the center ring represent migrating birds, outbound for their winter home further south. The body of the pot is made from desert mesquite reclaimed from a mill in Sonora, Mexico. Typical of mesquite, it has a wormhole, that became visible during the turning of the pot and is now filled with turquoise acrylic. The birds are made of purpleheart, paduak, and lati.
