Founded by three women who lived in Loudoun County, LAWS was incorporated in 1984 under the name Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice and does business as Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS). LAWS is a private nonprofit organization providing essential services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. The mission of LAWS is to provide victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse with safety, hope and empowerment services to live as survivors free from the effects of violence.


Windy Hill Foundation provides more than just a home. Windy Hill has over 300 affordable housing choices in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties. Housing options include single-family, townhomes, and apartments. With the help of volunteers and community partners, Windy Hill provides programs and services to residents from young families to older adults. These programs, which enrich the lives of residents, providing them with extra resources to ensure a bright future, include: Summer Camp, Pre-school and Scholarship Aid, After-school Training, Computer Labs, Social & Cultural Programs for Older Adults, and Food Enrichment & Meal Assistance.


A small music therapy studio on Jay Street in Middleburg, Va., has a big voice and a reach far beyond Loudoun County. Founded in 2010 by Tom Sweitzer and Kim Tapper, it has brought the healing power of music to hundreds of people facing myriad challenges physical and mental -- traumatic brain injuries, strokes, autism, Down’s syndrome, and ADHD. For all their clients, A Place To Be is a place to be themselves.


Seven Loaves Services was established in 1994 as an ecumenical, faith-based pantry dedicated to providing nutritious food to those in need in Middleburg and the surrounding area. We serve anyone who comes to us regardless of faith, income, place of residence, or other criteria. For over twenty-five years we have continued to evolve to meet the needs for those who need us, but keep true to the mission, to serve ANYONE who needs us in a respectful and clean environment.
